Every year around Christmas London's famous shopping region and
indoor market pulls out all the festive stops. As usual, the
eclectic mix of boutiques and unique gift shops will offer up their
seasonal wares at Covent Garden.
This year:
Head to the Piazza (you can't miss it - it's got London's only
32 foot topiary reindeer in pride of place) and check out the
exciting new installation from art and design collective United
Visual Artists in the Market Building. These are Christmas
decorations, but done with the unmistakeable design flair of the
UK's premier lighting art collective.
Get into the Christmas spirit by enjoying a little festive
cheer, courtesy of The Mulled Wine Hut. Again, it's easily spotted
as the stall looks like a huge Christmas present. There's also hot
apple juice, minced pies and traditionally roasted chestnuts on
offer.
Santa has given his reindeer some time off ahead of their big
night on Christmas Eve. And where have they chosen to spend their
R&R? In Covent Garden, where they're keen to meet local
children (but only the 'nice' ones, mind) and soak up the festive
spirit. The reindeer will be on the East Piazza every Saturday
until Christmas from 12:00 to 16:00. Kids can hand-feed and pet
them, and Dasher and Dancer et al have promised to stay still for
some great photo opportunities.
Come down to the South Hall in Covent Garden at 4 pm every
day until Christmas to witness a special guest opening a door of
our giant LEGO advent calendar. As you'll see
from the film above, there's a 3D LEGO Christmas surprise behind every
door
