Take the family for a walk on the wild side and head to one of
the many animal attractions in London and the South of England.
Prepare to be amazed by creatures great and small, from the
majestic lions of the savannah to the tiny but terrifying spiders
of the rainforest.
With over 750 species of animals, the ever-popular ZSL London
Zoo is a great destination for all ages.
Boasting some fantastic attractions, such as Gorilla Kingdom,
Giants of the Galapagos and the recently opened Animal Adventure -
a fun-filled interactive children's zoo - you can be sure of a full
day's entertainment. Head down to the penguin pool at feeding time
to watch them gulp down a whole fish in one mouthful - and if raw
fish isn't your thing, you can rest assured there are plenty of
more appealing refreshment options for human visitors!
Featuring creatures of all shapes and sizes, plus a vast array of
activities, take a trip to Bristol Zoo Gardens for
a grand day out this summer. Get involved with feeding, learn about
the zoo's conservation programme and find out which animals are the
record breakers in the 'Zoolympics'. And if the British summer
isn't quite living up to dry and sunny expectations, you'll be
pleased to know that many of the exhibits are undercover, so you
can enjoy the experience whatever the weather.
While the theme park may be the first thing that springs to mind,
Chessington Zoo was actually built before the
famous World of Adventures. The place is positively bursting with
animal-themed entertainment, guaranteed to wow children and adults
alike. Come face to face with gorillas, tigers and leopards in
'Trail of Kings', see meerkats and wallabies in 'Creature Features'
and enter the 'Creepy Caves' to explore a world of reptiles, snakes
and all manner of creepy crawlies.
For creatures of a slightly different variety, make your way to
Bournemouth's impressive Oceanarium and take a
deep-sea adventure through the waters of the world. Discover the
marine life of the Mediterranean, be amazed at the inhabitants of
the Amazon and head down under to explore the Great Barrier Reef.
There are literally hundreds of sea creatures on display, from tiny
crabs and clownfish (think Finding Nemo) to deadly stingrays and
terrifying piranhas.
Alternatively, take the plunge at the National Sea Life
Centre in Birmingham, with 2FOR1 entry
when you travel by train. Go on a mind-blowing journey through the
ocean depths and learn about all the fascinating creatures to be
found under the sea. There are over 60 impressive displays,
including a touch pool, a one million-litre ocean tunnel and the
truly amazing Sensorama 4-D Cinema, where you'll feel the ocean
spray and even smell the seaweed as you watch sea creatures
seemingly leap off the screen. Get 2FOR1 entry to this top
attraction when you travel by train.
