Nestled in a beautiful valley in the heart of the Surrey hills, Dorking has been a source of inspiration for writers, poets, painters and musicians for centuries! Bring a picnic with you and sit yourself down for the afternoon upon a hillside amongst the stunning panoramic views of the most unspoilt, idyllic English countryside you’re ever likely to see. The town itself has bags of character too, and you’ll find the locals are only too pleased to show you around.
Brockenhurst in Hampshire is home to the uniquely delightful New Forest, created by William the Conqueror over a thousand years ago. Go for a long, languid stroll along the bank of the river which flows lazily through this ancient forest, and keep an eye out for the wild ponies, deer and cows that roam through the dappled light beneath the trees.
The inspiration behind E.H. Shephard’s whimsical ‘Wind in the Willows’ stories, Henley-on-Thames is a quaint, picturesque town in Oxfordshire situated on the banks of the great river itself. Roll up your sleeves and take a rowing boat out on the river one hazy day, or better still, put your feet up and go for a chauffer driven cruise on a motor boat whilst you eat a leisurely lunch on board!
