"the best of everything...top to bottom"
Top indeed. We start with "that view". The view from
"the reviewing stand* in the sky" (they're opening it specially for us!). Where we look down into Buckingham Palace Gardens - and down onto the Household Cavalry as they wheel by.
Half a league, half a league...boldly they ride and well. It's throat-catching stuff - the visual equivalent of an aria. And then... it's Royal London done royally. In the words of an American visitor,
"what I love about London Walks is the degree of granularity you get". Here that translates into the very best place to watch the Guard Change (when it's on), what to look for, where the royal apartments are, what the buttons on the uniforms tell you, etc. etc. And it really is
all the Queen's Men & all the Queen's Horses because we end at the Horse Guards Museum, where you can see the horses, watch the soldiers at work...even try on a uniform if you want!
*
Pennies to heaven: i.e., there's a very modest charge to go up into the eyrie.
And we get a good discount! Ditto the Horse Guards Museum.
There is no need to book for any of the London Walks - you simply turn up.
