First Great Western First-minute-fares

Tickets purchased in advance give the best value train travel in both Standard and First Class. Firstminutefares are our lowest priced advance purchase tickets. These tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability so you are advised to book early if you want to get the best fare.

The benefits of Firstminutefares include:

• Discounts of between 15% and 60%. Every month our maximum discount of 60% is offered on at least 90,000 seats!
• The booking deadline for all advance purchase fares is 18.00 on the day before travel 
• If you only need a one way ticket you pay half the price of the return fare 
• You can ‘mix and match’ Standard and First Class, Business and Leisure tickets for each direction of travel so you select the price you want and travel exactly when you want 
• The tickets come with an automatic seat reservation*
  

*One free seat reservation per person travelling at the time of ticket purchase. Seats reserved after the purchase of tickets are subject to a £5 supplement.

There are two Firstminutefares categories:

Firstminutefares Business

Firstminutefares Business are for travel on peak services. Once booked the journey can be changed* and the tickets are refundable subject to a £10 administration fee.

Firstminutefares Leisure

Firstminutefares Leisure offer our lowest fares and are for travel on off-peak services. Once booked they are non refundable but the journey may be changed* subject to £10 administration fee.
