The Needles Old Battery & New Battery
This spectacularly sited cliff top fort which is in the care of the National Trust has the best views of the Needles Rocks and a fascinating military history brought to life in cartoons by comic book artist Geoff Campion. The New Battery contains an exhibition about the part the site played in Britain’s race for space (opening times vary).
Opening times: Needles Old Battery: daily until 31 October 2010, 10.30–17.00 (last admission 16.30). Kids go free in August! Also open on Staurdays and Sundays from 6 November - 12 December 2010, 11.00-15.00.
Visit: 1 – 2 hours. Needles New Battery:14 March – 1 November, Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays 11.00–16.00.

There is no vehicular access to the Needles headland. Visitors with disabilities are asked to phone for arrangements. There are a number of steep paths, uneven surfaces and loose gravel paths. Partly accessible. Access to the tunnel is via a spiral staircase. The New Battery has uneven surfaces and steps down to the exhibition rooms.
