Get your blood pumping and your adrenaline jumping on The Slide, a hair-raising thrill ride that’s not for the feint-hearted. Brave the gentle twists, tight turns and thrilling drops of the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide as it weaves its way through the iconic red steel frame of the UK’s most exciting viewing platform, the ArcelorMittal Orbit.
Explore tranquil skyline views of up to 20 miles across London before challenging your friends and family to take on the 40 second descent of the 178m long tunnel slide. With light and dark sections, you’ll catch glimpses of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London skyline before being plunged into darkness where you’ll be left guessing which way you’ll drop next. And with speeds of up to 15mph, 12 twists and turns and a devilish corkscrew at the end named ‘the bettfeder’ – bedspring in German – you’ll be screaming for more by the time you get to the bottom.
The Slide is not just an exhilarating experience; it is also an exciting and interactive art installation. Created by German artist Carsten Höller at the invitation of the ArcelorMittal Orbit’s designer, Sir Anish Kapoor, The Slide is a unique collaboration between two of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists.
You must be eight years old or over, at least 1.3m tall and weigh under 149kg to ride The Slide.
