Based in the former Manor Street School building since 1993, Braintree Museum conserves and celebrates the history of Braintree and its surrounding areas, focusing on the District’s industrial and cultural achievements as well as its many notable personalities.
Exploring the rich heritage focusing on the textile and manufacturing industries of Courtaulds, Warners and Crittalls, as well as displays on local pottery, the work of the Bardfield Artists and Essex straw and lace. Housed in the Victorian Manor Street School, with a classroom still in situ.
The Museum offers a vibrant programme of events and exhibitions throughout the year. The Museum Shop is a unique shopping destination and Something Scrummy café is the perfect place to enjoy lunch or refreshments as part of your visit.
