5 things to do outside
Published 22/11/2016 by Pinar
Sadly, in grey ole’ London you can’t plan too much outdoors. So it’s important to be primed and ready for when that first ray of sun appears or that last drop of rain has fallen. Here are some ideas to have in mind for a dry day.
A wander at Kew is a lovely thing to do. The gardens are the world’s largest collection of living plants with more than 30,000 of them arranged into climates and landscapes from all over the world. Explore tropical rainforest in the Palm House, mountain plants in the Alpine and Rock Garden and even giant Californian redwoods in Redwood Grove. Plus there’s plenty of activities for children including a woodland play area, a treetop walkway and child-size badger’s sett.
Cruise the Thames
You have a couple of options here. One is to take a leisurely cruiser along the Thames, taking in famous sights such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Or you could be a bit more James Bond about the whole thing and take a speedboat and bump and skim your way along the river.
If you want to get to know a city, the best way is to get out and walk. But don’t wander aimlessly. Take one of our guided tours and learn something along the way. Want to know more about London’s chocolatiers? No worries. Uncover some of the city’s hidden secrets? You got it. Whether it’s beer, cake or rock n’ roll we’ve got a walk for you so step this way.
Open Top Bus Tour
On the other hand, why walk when you can be driven about? Take an open-top bus tour and see all of London’s sights without having to lift a foot. Or take a night-time tour and see iconic buildings such as St Paul’s cathedral and Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament lit up in all their glory. Or maybe you prefer things a little darker in which case a comedy-horror Ghost Bus Tour might be more up your alley. See our 2FOR1 offers on bus tours.
Fat Tire Bike Tour
If you can’t decide between walking around the city or sitting down in a vehicle, perhaps this will be a happy medium. This four-hour bike tour will be led by a tour guide who will take you round the city seeing some of its major sights. In a leisurely fashion.
