October Half Term
October half term is here, and we've rounded up some absolutely cracking days out that are perfect for families and friends looking to make the most of the season. Best of all, most of these attractions are easily accessible by train, making your journey part of the adventure!
Storybook Adventures
Little ones will go mad for the Zog trail at Kew Gardens (18 October – 2 November), where they can follow in the footsteps of everyone's favourite clumsy dragon through interactive challenges amongst the autumn leaves.
Over at Winkworth Arboretum (2 September – 6 November), families can join Cyril and Bruce in The Squirrels that Squabbled™ trail, perfect for exploring the spectacular autumn colours whilst following this brilliant rhyming adventure.
Science and Nature Fun
Science fans are in for a treat at Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum with Galactic Mission: Life Beyond Earth (27-31 October) – think fiery experiments and mind-blowing discoveries about alien life. Birmingham New Street makes this easily reachable from across the country.
For a magical outdoor experience, WWT Arundel Wetland Centre's Super Natural half term (25 October – 2 November) offers willow wand making and fungi hunts. Arundel station is just a short walk away, making this a brilliant train-friendly day out.
Museums and Culture
Pop into the Florence Nightingale Museum (25 October – 2 November) for their Half-Term Hoot, where kids can test their skills alongside Athena the owl. Located near Waterloo station, it couldn't be easier to reach by train.
Seasonal Spectacles
Birmingham Botanical Gardens brings something completely different with Arachnobot & The Giant Web (27-30 October) and their quirky Goths Playground Pop-Up Market – brilliant for families wanting something a bit alternative this half term.
