Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition & Tour
Admission includes Globe Tour and Exhibition, as well as dressing, sword fighting and printing press demonstrations when available.
Housed beneath the Globe itself, the Exhibition brings Shakespeare’s world to life. Imagine the Globe as it would have been: the centre of what was once London’s most notorious entertainment district, surrounded by raucous taverns and bawdy houses.
Discover the secrets of Elizabethan special effects, from blood and gore to magic tricks and flying on stage. How were characters hanged on stage and what created Macbeth’s thunder? Listen to recordings from some of the most famous Shakespearean performances, and add your voice to scenes performed by Globe actors.
GLOBE THEATRE TOUR
The Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the open air playhouse first built in 1599, where Shakespeare worked and for which he wrote many of his greatest plays.
Throughout the year, a fascinating tour of the theatre is included in a visit to the Globe Exhibition.
The guides bring this extraordinary space to life in a half-hour tour of the auditorium, with colourful stories of the 1599 Globe, the reconstruction process in the 1990s and how the building works today as an imaginative and experimental theatre space.
