York’s Chocolate Story is located in the heart of York and celebrates the rich culture of chocolate within the city. Discover the stories behind the greatest names in chocolate and unwrap the secrets of chocolate making. The attraction has got your family chocolatey covered as you're taken on a fully interactive journey. Unearth fascinating chocolatey facts along the way as you travel back in time to the Mexican Jungle to learn about the origins of cocoa.
The attraction is a fully guided tour over three floors of interactive exploration that takes you on a unique journey of how chocolate made history. Find out how the confectionary families of York invented your favourite chocolate bars within the city walls such as Smarties, Kit Kats, Yorkies and Chocolate Oranges. Meet the expert chocolatiers behind the scenes and see them in action with a live chocolate making demonstration. Test your chocolate making skills as you craft a lolly – could you be a budding chocolatier? Watch with your own eyes how chocolate goes from bean to bar on our virtual factory and take the ultimate chocolate taste test that will challenge your taste palette.
Check out the KitKat Exhibition Breaking the Mould: The Story of KitKat new to 2019 - Uncover the secrets behind the world’s most popular confectionery brand and find out why the KitKat is so popular in Japan. After the tour take a seat in the downstairs cafe and try one of the deliciously unique Hot Chocolates up for grabs.
